Born in 1938, Gill Watkiss studied at the South West Essex School of Art before moving to Cornwall in 1959.
Inspired by the weather sweeping in from the Atlantic, the light on the rugged coast and moorland, and the everyday life of its people, her paintings are brought to life by her distinctive characters set against recurring Cornish landscapes.
Her figures are often seen battling bravely against the weather and her paintings radiate an almost "Chagall-like" quality.
Recently her reputation and popularity has soared and her work can be found in private and public collections worldwide.
We are delighted to be able to offer a selection of Gill’s original paintings that capture the essence and individuality of her work.
