Giant Steel Sculpture Unveiled at ArtsBank...
ArtsBank is delighted to unveil a brand new outdoor sculpture by acclaimed artist Ray Lonsdale.
The dramatic 12 foot high steel figure of a fisherman stands outside ArtsBank’s gallery on Milton Street in Saltburn. Entitled ‘A High Tide in Short Wellies,’ the sculpture makes a powerful statement about the decline of the fishing industry.
Ray Lonsdale will already be familiar to many of ArtsBank’s visitors, having created the five life-size steel figures which stood at the heart of the gallery’s hugely successful Teesside Steel Exhibition last year. Just like those earlier sculptures, the new outdoor work expresses a sensitivity and depth of emotion unique to Ray Lonsdale’s steel figures.
