Robert Bottomley
The son of a South Yorkshire miner, Rob Bottomley is a self-taught artist who has sold paintings in America, New Zealand, Europe and to well known celebrities such as Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics, Bananarama, and the North East singing duo Prelude.
Showing at Artsbank is an early portrait of Rob's grandfather, drawn when Rob was ten years old. His grandfather always encouraged him to paint. Sadly he was killed in a mining accident three years later at Hickleton Main Colliery.
