David used to call himself a landscape photographer, though he has never felt comfortable with the title or the description “photographer”.

Photography has always been a medium for David. He has never been enamoured with the process of photography, never loved a camera or been excited by the technique. David’s passion lay with the subject itself not the photography – seeing the contours of the land under all weather conditions and in all light at all times of the year. Out on the landscape; David found beauty and peace.

More recently David appears to have expanded his palate well beyond that which might traditionally be considered the landscape. He feels that his subject remains peace and beauty – the difference these days is the number of places he can find those things.

David’s philosophy of photography is that it is about the subject – it is not about the techniques used or the camera.

David states that the best photographs are snap shots – photographs where the only motive for taking them was the subject.
