Andrea Hunter graduated from Leeds University in 1987, and returned home to Hardraw, near Hawes in Wensleydale to work as a professional artist.
Inspired by the landscapes. inhabitants and dramatic weather extremes in the Dales, Andrea worked mainly in charcoals and pastels for many years. However, an interest in textiles led to a love of feltmaking and its creative potential
Andrea creates mood, movement and light via a technique of working with layers of fine wool as if it were paint. As a result her art resembles charcoal or pastel work but with added depth and textural qualities.
Andrea's innovative work with wool as an artistic medium has won her great acclaim. She exhibits nationally and in 2012, she published a book "Creating Felt Pictures". In the same year, she was commissioned for two walls of work at the Courtyard Brassiere, Settle, North Yorkshire.
